On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 7 PM, KONTEJNER will host the opening of the exhibition featuring masharu’s projects, "Museum of Edible Earth" and "Compost as Superfood", which explore the concept of edible soil through art, science, and cultural practices. As part of the exhibition, a workshop will be held, inviting visitors to actively participate and reflect on soil consumption.
The Museum of Edible Earth is a collection of edible earths from across the globe: over 400 different types of earth-like substances from 34 different countries.
The goal of the Museum is to constitute an extensive collection of earths suggested for oral use from as many countries as possible and, through consideration of their cultural uses and histories, in addition to cross-disciplinary partnerships, workshops and collaborations, encourage a reconsideration and reflection upon the earth.
With the audience at the core of the work, visitors are invited to taste the earth, share their tasting experience and engage in dialogues surrounding cultural differences and relationships with the environment, while reviewing their knowledge about food and cultural traditions using creative thinking.
The project Compost as Superfood seeks to research and discuss the implications of consuming human-made soil on personal health and community health. It is intended to open discussion of the safety surrounding consumption of organic materials, and the complexity of cultural understanding, spatial and environmental awareness, and personal desires surrounding this.
This project, based on bio-design and food design, explores the possibility of producing human-made soils with the primary purpose of consumption through investigative and creative principles.
