KONTEJNER presents a two-day educational programme on technical literacy for future organisers, producers and curators, led by experienced technician and sound engineer, and KONTEJNER’s long-term associate, Filip Pacak..
The two-day technical planning workshop is designed to empower and equip young people interested in organising and producing within the arts and culture sector with essential technical literacy. The workshop includes a lecture on the fundamentals of technical planning, an introduction to basic technical terminology, and the sharing of knowledge and experience with a focus on the pre-production of specific events (concerts, exhibitions, forums, festivals, etc.), as well as a practical component based on concrete examples and a hands-on approach for future application. Mirroring the actual process of event planning, the workshop begins with defining the content and identifying a suitable venue for its realisation. This is followed by learning how to read and interpret technical riders—both artists’ and venues’—developing cost estimates and budgets, planning technical teams, and creating a timeline for realisation. Pacak will also introduce participants to the basics of audio and video equipment, lighting systems, electricity consumption and power connections, as well as the most common errors and troubleshooting methods. In addition, the workshop addresses the current state of the market: equipment rental prices, technical team fees, who to contact for rentals and services, and more. The final part of the workshop focuses on practice: participants will plan the realisation of different types of events. These tasks will then be presented and analysed with concrete advice and constructive feedback.
The workshop takes place on October 22 and 23 2025, from 10 am to 2 pm, at KONTEJNER (Odranska 1/1), and is intended for young adults interested in organisation and production in culture and art, without an upper age limit. No prior knowledge is required to participate in the workshop, but participants with some experience in organization are also welcome.
Participation is free of charge, and to apply, you need to send a short CV with any previous experience in the organisation and/or production of cultural events, if you have it, and a few sentences on your motivation for taking part. The application must be sent to davorkabegovic@gmail.com no later than October 5 2025, 11:59 pm CET.
If you would like to work on the preparation of a specific project, please indicate that in your application. The maximum number of participants is 10.
