Month of May - Mochvara Gallery is shifting into fifth gear. The first treat on the program menu: the interactive installation "Fiction and loss". Master of the ceremony: Mirjana Batinić, our home girl with a Ljubljana address. Yes, this is our first May club kunst experience in the Gallery and, no, we won't be treating you to a complementary bowl of beans (but rather with another club kunst extravaganza at the end of the month). But first we want to dismember you into your most personal fears - especially if you're afraid of the unknown, and better yet the unknown in the dark. Freaky?
The bravest ones, who won't be waiting for their guinea pig friends to drop in first and recreate their experiences, will be expected at the exhibition opening on May 15th at 8pm. And you can also find out everything about the strange images and noises in the dark, as well as the technical challenges of such an installation, by participating in the user-friendly talk with Mirjana (the artist), Zoran (the tech mastermind) and Ida (author of original text accompanying the work) at the Club Mochvara from 7pm onwards.

April marks the first teen birthday of Mochvara, celebrating its 13th years of existence. Mochvara Gallery invites you, in accordance with this special birthday month, to the Pogon Jedinstvo hall on April 20th at 8 pm, when we will be featuring the young Slovenian sound art star - Marko Batista and his performance piece, Timing Diagrams. Batista as the "musician" of the attractive retro-futuristic he devised himself will be accompanied by Boštjan Čadež visuals.

KONTEJNER is inviting all artists, inventors, scientists, geek tech lovers and all other passionate tech heads to enter the open call and apply their works for presentation at the fourth edition of Device_art! The call for proposals is open until May 2nd 2012.

The term device_art refers to art production based on various aspects of technological devices and mechanisms: the creative usage of analogue/digital, high/low technologies, also including devices, gadgets, machines, robots and tech oriented performances. The aim of the triennial international exhibition Device_art is to present the creative tendencies at the junction of art and design, gadget-hack. There is no fixed subject or theme the proposed works should refer to, nor is it necessary for the works to have an exclusively artistic aspect.

Device_art is a comparative research project which, alongside local production, presents a particular international device art scene. This year, the works selected through the open call and presenting the current artistic production in Croatia, will be included in the international exhibition taking place in Zagreb and Prague. This edition of Device_art is organized in collaboration with the Czech International Centre for Art and New Technologies, CIANT, and Kapelica Gallery from Ljubljana.

The exhibition Still Life by the Slovenian photographer Goran Bertok is closing this year's club kunst season in Gallery Mochvara. Following experimental sound art installations, collective audio-visual performances and workshops, synesthetic abstract films, peculiar ultrasonic instruments and recently presented hardcore punk design escapades, this December the Gallery is opening its door to yet another quirky and quite dark artistic expression.

Touch Me Festival 2011: Energy Ab/Use is the third edition of the international, interdisciplinary triennial event initiated in 2005 and dedicated to an artistic and critical questioning of the roles of technology, science and art in society. The topic of the 2011 edition integrates the issues of various concepts, the use, abuse and transformation of energy. Dealing with the materiality and power of energy through different modes and forms, in addition to its focus on the arts, the festival strives to open new perspectives on the importance and meaning of energy from social, economic, ecological and political standpoints. All segments of the festival are constructed in such a way as to encourage new ideas, shifts, imaginative ways of dealing, thinking and working with the issues raised by energy.

After an interesting and exhausting week the artists from Germany and Croatia are finally ready to show what they've done during the creative workshops and lectures and give everybody the opportunity to enjoy the results of their creative work in the evening hours at Pogon Jedinstvo! The performances are followed by a Saturday night after party with DJ and VJ shows after midnight at Mochvara Club.

The performances by Slovenian artists Miha Ciglar and Luka Dekleva & Luka Prinčič are going to transform the club space into a space for experimental audio sessions. The artists will present to the audience a unique insight into the intriguing world of sound art.

The unpredictable dynamic and use of abstract glitch aesthetics of Schizogram, along with Ultrasound Haptics' research into the haptic interface based on ultrasound waves, are going to create an atmosphere that merges the concepts of temporary and permanent, accidental and mechanical, and human and technological. In the focus of the 2011 programme of Gallery Mochvara the emphasis will be put on sound art, promoting the progressive urban art scene focused on the creative use of technology, acoustics and noise, using new media practices to bring together the auditory, the visual and the tactile.

The 2011 programme has been conceived by the curatorial team of KONTEJNER | bureau of contemporary art praxis.

The film talks about the first radio station in the world edited and run by psychiatric patients in Buenos Aires. This is an intimate story of a strugle for equality, authenticity and the right of the marginalized groups to be equaly heard in society. A friend and participant of this film is a musician Manu Chao.

Film Family life by the great british and european director Ken Loach is a multy-layered insight into a life of a confused Janice Baildon, a girl who stumbles on the doorstep of life's emancipation. Her search for an identity brings her in front of an abyss of intergenerational family conflict, and larger social changes.

It is the first international project of this kind in this region. Find the answers to how we became mad, how autism and theatre are connected, do we perhaps need mental pacemakers or how does one fall in love with the Eiffel Tower, by coming to the festival, October 20-24, 2010 at Pogon Jedinstvo and Mochvara Club in Zagreb.

Final day of Device_art 3.009:

Within this year's Device_art festival Kontejner presents a live performance from the japanese stars Maywa Denki tonight, October 26th, at Club Močvara starting at 21.30h!!!

Maywa Denki live concerts are performed with original musical instruments. Every time a machine problem occurs, Maywa's laborers perform an emergency repair. In this way they keep the instruments in operation until the end of each show, and gain feedback for the future development of their products. It's very much like a Formula One Grand Prix in which accidents and crashes are common.

Finally, or, at last! The festival ran through like a storm! Everyone was too excited for words! However, excitements must come to an end, and so, our adventure with world artists, their works and you, dear audience. We had, among other things, cakes with parsley, ejaculations, little cinema projections and enjoyment in canabis.
