Multimedia artist Martina Mezak was born on March 9th, 1973, in Zagreb. She graduated from the Fine Arts Academy in Zagreb.
"I deal with the reality mostly as elementary archetypal experiences and meta-energetic (spiritual/unreal/emotional) actuality. I approach the issue of totality of social processes with detachment from the time we live in, not by trying to locate and attest to the existing problems, but the universal need for transcendence of the collective consciousness. In my work I frequently use the element of water as a medium, due to its specificities such as fluidity, transparency, memory and mutability. I use water as a metaphor for incessant driving energy behind all things living. My main form of expression are ambiental audio-visual, lumino-kinetic installations. I articulate homogeneously the visual, the auditive and the conceptual aspect of the work. Lately I have been working on exploration of virtual reality. Since 2001, my work has been featured both in individual and group exhibitions in Croatia."
