Martina Mezak is a multimedia artist based in Zagreb. Her work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Croatia and internationally. „My work is based on multidisciplinary research in the field of art and technology, which includes interactive audio and video installations, multimedia objects, as well as Internet-based, audio and video works. By using diverse media and technologies I construct alternative realities which surround the viewer, giving him an opportunity to perceive the work as direct, personal experience. The topics I deal with touch upon the ideas on possibilities to transcend the human consciousness. I often use a symbolic or archetypal language as a link to the viewer's unconscious and a trigger of the unconscious, universal knowledge we all possess. With the stimulation of senses, this capability to perceive the intuitive knowledge or inner understanding can be a path leading towards transcendence. The fact that small shifts within individual perception can lead towards greater changes in reality or on the level of the collective uncounscious is also an importan element in this line of thought.
