Mika Miyabara and Tatsuo Sugimoto are media artists who have been developing interactive projects. They started working together at IAMAS, Japan, in 2001. Miyabara is a documentary filmmaker, and Sugimoto is a graphic designer, both of them having a solid career in their respective fields. Together, they develop interactive installations, which have been exhibited in many cities in Japan, Austria and Spain. But they also design workshops to give ordinary people an opportunity to express their own ideas. All their projects deal with communication with diverse people in public spaces and they often work with large groups of participants.
They are interested in both art and science, and particularly in the interdisciplinary field that connects art, education, engineering, broadcasting and citizens' media.
At present, they are also teachers on media studies. Miyabara lectures at Waseda University, and Sugimoto at Nagoya University of Arts and Sciences.
