Concert: BIZON (HR) & Mopcut ft. MC dälek (US, FR, AT)

The international experimental noise trio Mopcut, consisting of Lukas König, Audrey Chen, and Julien Desprez, presents their third studio album, featuring guest artists Moor Mother, MC Dälek, Mariam Rezaei, and Evicshen. At their concert at KONTEJNER, Mopcut will be joined on stage by MC dälek, while the opening act will be the Split-based instrumental duo BIZON

BIZON (HR) consists of guitarist Luka Krstulović and drummer Dragan Đokić—talented creatives active in Split’s alternative and independent scene for the past two decades as members of numerous bands and initiatives (Anita, Pale, To, Empty Wallets, Anal Intruders, Mondo Kick, Stepped Out, Wizard Of Stone Mountain). As an instrumental noise rock duo, BIZON has been active since 2012. They have released three digital EPs and a vinyl edition of the album Garnizon. BIZON's music is characterized by pronounced rhythmicity, exceptional performance precision, powerful energy, and musical conviction. It has a clearly defined form, with irregular rhythms and rhythmic structures combined with a distorted guitar that, through its musical narration, leads the listener through repetitive post-rock and post-genre sound labyrinths, building up to noisy climaxes and evoking a sense of exaltation in the audience.

Mopcut is an international trio formed by experimental vocalist and electronic musician Audrey Chen; Lukas König, one of Europe’s most renowned percussionists; and French guitar-eccentric Julien Deprez. Their ability to improvise defies any genre limitations. Their energy driven, raging numbers oscillate between unleashed free expression and tamed, tight noise. Structured around ecstatic microexplosions, they resemble an imaginary form of communication.

Their objective is a construct of noise and sounds that completely envelopes the listeners and has an equally as intensive impact on the ears as on the inner eye – that’s how Audrey Chen, Julien Desprez, and Lukas König describe their trio project MOPCUT, which celebrated its premiere at donaufestival Krems (AT) in 2018. Lukas König utilises his drums, synthesizer, and voice; Julien Desprez plays electric guitar; and Audrey Chen overlays the sounds from her analogue synthesizers with ecstatic extemporised vocals.

2025 offers a special occasion for Mopcut to feature live guest MC dälek, who is part of MOPCUT’s latest release RYOK (heat crimes, 2025) beyond other contributors like Moor Mother, Evicshen and Mariam Rezaei.

“dälek's take on hip-hop is foreboding and hypnotic in a way that feels unexpected; sure, in the Age of Future, creepy, dark vibes are almost de rigeur, but dälek takes it a step further towards the abyss by incorporating a seething electronic edge—think Einstürzende Neubauten, not Soundcloud.” (Noisey)

The concert was organized as an introductory program for the upcoming Gibanja, which will take place from May 19 to 22, 2025.

Tickets at a presale price of €7.00 can be purchased through the Entrio system.

At the entrance, they will cost €10.00.
