As part of the Euroradio celebration of Art’s Birthday, KONTEJNER and the Third Programme of Croatian Radio are presenting an evening-long music programme at Studio Gallery KLET, taking place on 17 January 2026 from 8 p.m. The programme features performances by two sound artists – tonota (HR) and Babilonska (HR).
In the central part of the programme at Klet, musician and producer Ivona Eterović (tonota) will perform an improvisational live set, exploring the relationship and communication with the audience. Drawing on prepared tracks, guitar material, and various loops, tonota responds to the audience and ambient during the performance, using the live situation itself as a key creative tool. Before and after tonota, DJ Nina Maštruko (Babilonska) will perform. In her sets, Babilonska combines a wide range of musical styles, from eccentric jazz and hip-hop beats to psychedelic soundscapes and noisy riffs from the “depths of hell,” creating powerful, bass-driven, and atmospheric musical narratives.
The central radio segment of the Art’s Birthday celebration across Europe will run from 9 p.m. to midnight, with the Third Programme of Croatian Radio broadcasting live contributions both from Klet in Zagreb and from other European cities participating in the celebration. The radio programme will also feature exciting international collaborations through simultaneous sound connections between multiple cities, as well as pre-recorded segments. Croatian Radio has been part of the European Art’s Birthday radio project for 20 years, which this year connects cities including: Ljubljana, Lausanne, Belgrade, Vienna, Madrid, Stockholm, Berlin, Graz, Freiburg, Ústí nad Labem, Vilnius, and, for the first time, an independent digital radio programme from the UK dedicated to experimental music – “Beware! The Radio.” The editor of the Zagreb programme is Adriana Kramarić, while the editor and commentator for the Third Programme broadcast is Iva Lovrec Štefanović.
The Art’s Birthday is based on the idea of French artist Robert Filliou (1926–1987), who declared on 17 January 1963 that art was born a million years ago. After his death, artists worldwide continued to celebrate this concept of the Eternal Network, in which each country and city organises its own celebration, with the only requirement being the sharing of the Art programme with others.
Admission to the programme at Studio Gallery KLET is free, and the live broadcast can also be followed on the HRT- dramski program Hrvatskoga radija Facebook page.
Come and celebrate Art’s Birthday with us!
