I have always thought of “human shadows with no people” as being hint of (man's) PRESENCE, much more than (his) ABSENCE. A fact they can appear impersonal is but a superficial view: every person's shadow continuously changes and hence carries an amazing potential of the actual personal and the actual unapproachable. It is a materialization of the spiritual space. However, defining the shadow is impossible and certainly pointless – because every shadow is going to outlive us.
