Dalibor Martinis (Zagreb, 1947) graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. He has exhibited since 1969; from 1973 he has worked as a video artist individually and in co-authorship with Sanja Iveković until 1992. He has staged numerous solo exhibitions, performances and screenings and participated at numerous international exhibitions (Biennials in Venice, Sao Păulo, Kwangju, Thessaloniki, Cetinja; Documenta in Kaseel, etc.) and video festivals (Berlin, Tokyo, Montreal, Locarno, etc.). He has received numerous grants (Canada Council in 1978, Jaica, Japan in 1984, Artslink, USA, 1994). He has been awarded numerous international awards (Tokyo Video Festival 1984, Locarno 1984, Alpe/Adria Film Festival, Trieste 1996). He received the award "Josip Račić" in 1995 and the City of Zagreb Award in 1998. His works are part of the collections of Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; ZKM, Karlsruhe; New York Public Library; Kontakt/Erste Bank; Beč etc. He was teaching and the Academy of Drama Arts in Zagreb and Ontario College of Art in Toronto. Since 2008 he teaches at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka.
