Mieko Suzuki (JP/DE)

Mieko Suzuki lives in Berlin and works as a DJ, sound artist, musician and composer. Her work is rooted in the materiality of time and space and in transformed states of consciousness, merging the raw power of sound with refined modulation. She is a member of the improvisation trio Contagious, together with Andrea Neumann (Inside Piano, Mixer) and Sabine Ercklentz (Trumpet, Processing), blending avant-garde experimentation and electronic music. Another ongoing project is Broken Vinyl, an audiovisual performance created with visual artist Claudia Rohrmoser, in which sound and image influence each other through the shared source material: vinyl. Since 2009, she has been co-hosting the bi-monthly multidisciplinary event KOOKOO with Arno Raffeiner, at OHM Gallery in Berlin.

Her work for dance and theatre includes collaborations with Barbara Raes (Unacknowledged Loss, 2017, Kaai Studio (BE), 2017; HAU (DE), 2019); Johan Simons (Hamlet, 2019; Ödipus, Herrscher, 2021, Schauspielhaus Bochum (DE); Dämonen, 2022; Dantons Tod, 2023, Burgtheater (AT); Maria F. Scaroni (City Lights, 2016, HAU; ON AIR, 2018, Gropius Bau (DE)); Meg Stuart (Tanzkongress, 2019, Hellerau (DE); GLITCH WITCH, 2024 (touring)); Lotte van den Berg and Tobias Staab (Matsukaze, 2025, Bayerische Staatsoper (DE); and Yuko Kaseki (z0ne, 2025, Dock 11 (DE)), among others.
