Michail Rybakov is an artist and artistic researcher from St. Petersburg, Russia, living and working in Karlsruhe, Germany. He studied media art and product design at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. His main topic is the interplay between bodies, space, and the micro-performativity of everyday life. He works in a wide variety of media, ranging from performative objects to installations, video and AI-based works.
With Bruno Latour as adviser, from 2018 to 2020 Rybakov engaged in artistic research on the topic of Strategies of Arrival: what happens between the moment you enter a room, a state, a conversation, and the moment you arrive fully in it, with your body and mind.During this time, he also developed artworks, interventions and workshops on the topic of critical zones. These can be seen in the current Critical Zones exhibition at the ZKM Karlsruhe.
